Importing your contacts into Metaventus

There are two ways to populate your CRM: a CSV import for a one-off file, or a migration connector if you are coming from Brevo, HubSpot or Efficy and want to bring across all of your existing data.

Good to know
  • Duplicates are automatically detected and merged on import.
  • To create a contact, at least one of these fields is required: email, phone or external identifier.
  • Metaventus can automatically create the associated company from the email domain.

Before you start​

  • Check that your list is legitimate and complies with our terms of use.
  • Prepare a clean file: one row per contact, with clear column headers.

CSV import with column mapping​

From the Contacts page of the CRM hub:

  1. Click Import contacts.
  2. Upload your CSV file (or copy and paste your data) — a preview is displayed.
  3. Map each column in your file to a Metaventus attribute (for example the column "First name" → the First name attribute). You can also create a new attribute or ignore a column.
  4. Choose the list or lists to add your contacts to, or create a new one.
  5. Check the options before confirming:
    • Update existing contacts — overwrites existing records with the new data.
    • Import empty fields — clears existing attributes where the matching column is empty.
  6. Tick the consent certification, then confirm the import.
tip

For phone numbers without a country code, select the default country: it will be applied automatically (for example France → +33).

Once the import is finished, a report details the new contacts, the updated contacts, those left unchanged and any errors to correct before trying again.

Migrating from Brevo, HubSpot or Efficy​

If you are leaving another tool, the migration connectors save you from re-entering everything by hand. They bring across contacts, companies, deals, tasks, lists and templates, depending on the source tool.

  1. From the Admin Center, connect your source account (secure authentication for Brevo and HubSpot, API key for Efficy).
  2. Review the available volumes before starting the migration.
  3. Start the import: it runs asynchronously, in the background, with a progress bar — you can carry on working in the meantime.
  4. At the end, a report shows what was imported and what needs checking.

Deduplication is based on the source identifier of each record: running an import again updates your data instead of creating duplicates.

What each connector brings across

Brevo and HubSpot bring across contacts, companies, deals, tasks, lists and email templates. Efficy brings across contacts and companies. For everything else, the universal CSV import with column mapping completes the migration.
